According to the Galyna’s assessments, the level of training of the 3rd “Silver Easel” participants is conspicuous at once. In addition, she finds good that the participants are willing to experiment with styles and techniques:Above all, I’d like to admit that this time we can see quite different contest works, they vary from those of the previous years. These are the works created by the authors with a different level of training, different attitude, and, possibly, different potential. It is very difficult to speak about the young author because everything is ahead of him. Besides, the contest conditions are very strict as your work has to be complete within a day and it is very difficult. Moreover, the works are less academic, and, in my opinion, it's good. After all, pseudo-academic drawing, which is taught in our higher schools, is not academic at all."

The art critic believes that this time the task for participants was complicated by the execution of the "Portrait" task because the contestants had to paint themselves. "Self-portrait, I believe, is the most difficult task: you need to look in the mirror and paint yourself! Galyna says. There are people who think constructively and compositionally, but there are young artists who go through painting – thin and complex, but as a result, we can see very cool painted things."

"Silver Easel" can help a young artist who still chooses his own creative path to be in the right place, at the right time and get the right advice."

In the opinion of the well-known curator, it is interesting to observe whom the young artist "cites" in his works: "I want to note that in each of the presented works one can quite clearly see the artist's horizons, which he relies on, as well as the famous artists whom the author "cites". This is not bad at all - it's interesting: the world of art is huge, and it's good that young people have already seen something and learned the techniques, stylistics and images of those who impress them. The school certainly should lay the foundation, but then everyone must determine what his speech is, what his voice is. Having found it, each of them will feel much more confident. This is the most important thing in art."

Concerning the meetings-lectures with the famous artists at the "Silver Easel" Galyna says this is a change for the better: ‘The contest progress is clearly demonstrated by the opportunity of interaction between young and experienced artists, for example, conducting master classes, author presentations – it expands the participants’ prospects and the contest level. "Silver Easel" can help a young artist who still chooses his own creative path and runs the risk of losing time by turning "wrong" to be in the right place, at the right time and get the right advice.’

"One needs to work and believe that things would work out for him" Galyna Sklyarenko comments. We are sincerely grateful for her advice and objective assessments!
