On 14 October 2017, the 3rd Open Student Contest in Painting was completed, and on 17 October, "Mechanism of Evolution" project was launched at the Modern Art Research Institute of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine (Kyiv).

The exhibition took place within the framework of the 10th platform "New directions". The artists were offered to present their own thoughts on modern biopolitics and the way the mechanistic approach and evolutionism coexist in it.

"The works that we selected for the project have no unambiguousness approach to the theme, but it was one of the main criteria", curators Oleksandr Khalepa and Andrii Sydorenko told the Art News. "We did not need a simple illustration of the theme, we wanted to show that the reflection on these issues was not sufficiently developed in general, but nevertheless there were quite accurate statements."

Applications were submitted by the artists from all over Ukraine - the participants were selected through the open call. On the initiative of the project manager Igor Abramovych, the exhibition was supplemented by the works "14.10.2016" of Bohdan Bieliei and "Question" of Yevhenii Orlov – the participants of the 3rd Open Contest in Painting "Silver Easel". By the way, "Question" work won the prize-winning place in the nomination "Improvisation" of the contest.
