During ten days, the participants of the plein air got acquainted with Vinnytsia and other corners of Podillia. They communicated, exchanged knowledge, recruited new experience on interesting master classes, and then splashed out their impressions on the canvas.

Zlata Shyshman participates in such a large event for the first time, so she shares: “This plein air-excursion is organized at the highest level. I haven’t had such experience yet – a really powerful team of artists was assembled here. In addition, for the first time I wrote plein air works on large formats – we got canvases with size 60x80. Previously, I was wary of this, but the new experience was a step forward for me.”

The artists worked mainly in the technique of oil painting, genre was dominated by landscapes. During the time of the plein air, the girls created a lot of paintings, but the most productive was Olesia Rybchenko – the girl wrote 9 works. She says: “Plein air was very intense and emotional, so some of my works have a backstory. For example, the picture “Black Dog” appeared under the impression of Pechera village. There are very beautiful panoramas, and in the bosom of nature we saw, as it seemed to us, a black goat. But it was only a dog. In the end, the dog almost bit us. This became an impetus for the creation of work. And the “Red Cows” appeared due to the fact that the cattle that grazed nearby drew attention to our red hats. We left our etudes with works and ran away. It was fun. As a result, we wrote the emotional works and had unforgettable impressions.”

The nature of Vinnytsia region made a fantastic impression on Liudmyla Koval. The girl tells: “In one of the villages there is a very beautiful monastery on the hill, and on the other side of the river – Moldova. At one point the heart began to freeze of these breath-taking landscapes.  It comes pride for the fact that in our country, there are such fantastic sceneries.”

Yevheniia Bozhko notes that it is extremely valuable in such events to exchange experiences and communicate with artists representing various art schools. In memory of the plein air, the girl created a work on which she portrayed her colleague Liudmyla Koval in the process of creating a cityscape. The artist admits that she has always compared this plein air with “Silver Easel” contest. Yevheniia says: “Finally, I came to the conclusion that these are completely different events with different formats and audiences. “Silver Easel” as a student contest is unique and organized at the highest possible level. Plein air “The Best Artist" is also an example of how to organize such events and to attract the patrons and authority to art cooperation.”

The participants received the “The Best Artist” awards, and the organizers are already planning to present the exhibition of works based on the results of the plein-air.
