The 3rd Open Student Contest in Painting "Silver Easel" came to an end. The works of the participants were appreciated not only by the respectable jury - numerous prizes were also awarded by the partners, among which the founders of Voloshyn Gallery Max and Julia Voloshyn.

"I was glad that the artists were not ashamed to experiment and wanted to prove themselves, to show something of their own, but not the things they are doing in the academy," Julia says.

The gallery owners co-operate with the organizers of "Silver Easel" not for the first time, so they have something to compare.

"Compared to a year ago, I can admit gradual progress in the contestants’ works," says Max. Students improvise much more, become more confident, and thus their works become more interesting. It is clear that young artists are in search of their own styles. When choosing the favourites, I pay attention to a lot of criteria: professionalism, improvisation, how easily an artist paints, how he feels colour, composition. "Silver Easel" has changed greatly - it is noticeable. Such contests for young artists are extremely important as they give participants the opportunity to grow, make them think where to move further. Young artists can talk to eminent artists, gallery owners, art historians, critics, and learn from the experience of each other."
