Yakiv Burda – a student of Kyiv State Institute of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design named after Mykhailo Boichuk. In autumn 2017 he took part in the "Silver Easel" contest for the first time, and it did not just inspire him but gave impetus to develop and work with even greater fervour. Yakiv received a special prize from Igor Abramovych, the contest partner. He shared his impressions about his participation in the youth creative event with us.

The boy says that communication with creative youth from different regions was useful for him – he had an opportunity to get acquainted with interesting techniques and styles.
‘"Silver Easel" inspired me very much, encouraged to work more creatively. Although I always tried to look for something new, when I saw my works among the others, I wanted to be even more expressive, not like anybody around,’ Yakiv shares with us.

Thanks to the participation in the contest, the young artist began to work more actively, develop plans for the future: "I started working on my own and, as a result, I found interesting things. It was the “Silver Easel” that inspired, made me believe in myself, and encouraged me to work persistently. It really charged with new energy, and I already have plans for some interesting projects."

The boy reviewed his own views on art, received a positive charge and motivation to work on his own style. He says: "Now I want to be more contemporary, do not give up beautiful things, but somehow combine contemporary with academic."
