What is Odesa associated with? The sea, Derybasivska street, unique locals or maybe you have your own associations? The Odesa Regional Organization of the National Union of Artists decided to show the city in all its glory: on 25 July 2018, “On Hretska street” gallery presented the exhibition “Oh, Odesa”.

Approximately thirty masters participated in the vernissage. Among the works, prevailing are city and seascapes. The organizers sought to show Odesa through the artists’ eyes. Interestingly, a lot of canvases depict the ancient city architecture.

A young artist, contestant of “Silver Easel” Yevheniia Bozhko presented three works as well: “For this exhibition, I chose sea motifs that show different seasons – winter, spring, and summer. This is Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi in the Odesa region and local beaches. I think it is the sea that characterizes Odesa in the best way.”

All Yevheniia's works are performed in oil, but there are works in other techniques: watercolours, pastels, as well as sculpture.

“I try not to miss exhibitions organized by the Union of Artists. When the works are outside the studio, you can take a fresh look at them, evaluate them among ones of the experienced artists. This encourages to work hard, helps to find fresh ideas and solutions,” a young artist says.

The exposition will last until 28 August 2018.
