The identification and support of talented students, promotion of their self-realization and creative development – it was the very goal for creation of the Student Contest in Painting “Silver Easel”. Indeed, in a short time the art event contributed to the creative realization of numerous gifted boys and girls: with the assistance of the contest partners the works of young artists are exhibited in the well-known galleries and auctions, young people are invited to plein airs and art residency. The success stories of these students are a striking example of how necessary and effective such art contest as “Silver Easel” is in Ukraine.

Maksym Skvortsov is a student of the Lviv National Academy of Arts. In April 2017, he became a participant of the 2nd All-Ukrainian Student Contest in Painting “Silver Easel”, which was held in Uzhhorod. The talented young man proved himself by extraordinary works. And, after a few months, he decided to present his new work: “10 meters of your opportunities” – with such an eloquent name Maksym Skvortsov started his open-air art show in Lviv on 22 August.

The artist set himself a goal to create a painting with acrylic paints and markers on a ten-meter long drawing paper for an hour and a half. The action took place in the open air on one of the most crowded squares of the country – Rynok Square in Lviv.

In general, the prehistory of Maksym's performance “here and now” was the participation in the spring student contest “Silver Easel” 2017, where, as the author notes, one believed in him, and he, in his turn, believed in himself.

A lot of people do not understand his painting, sometimes one can even hear the “cliché” phrase – “I can do that as well”! But, in fact, everybody who says so – cannot and will not do it, because they have already driven themselves into certain frames and have established all sorts of restrictions for their own perception of the world. As for the author himself, he describes his creativity in such a way: “The idea is to see everything as one whole. It is expressed in colour, style and use of materials. There is a search for a single and indivisible thing. I'm trying to create my own style, develop and improve myself in the means and forms of self-expression.”

After the contest “Silver Easel” Maksym Skvortsov was clearly convinced of the verity of what he was doing and finally realized his vocation as an artist and that painting is his life. He began working hard on himself, using modern communication tools and media space of Instagram and Facebook. The result was not long in coming – the young artist received an invitation from the Boston Gallery to take part in the exhibition. He also received an offer to create branded clothes together with a designer Oleh Havryliv.

By the way, after presentation at the Rynok Square, art connoisseurs could see his work “10 meters” at the exhibition in the gallery of the Lviv National Academy of Arts, and then, with the support of The Post Creative Foundation, the project will go to Boston, the USA, where the exhibition of the artist will be held with information technologies.

The young artists Volodymyr Kohut, Kateryna Shelevytska, Maksym Hospodynchyk, who were also the contestants of “Silver Easel” came to support the Lviv action of the artist.

Partners that acted as the project sponsors were Transcarpathian Art Foundation, Havryliv design, Lviv National Academy of Arts, Post Creative Foundation.
