On 12 October, 7.00 p.m., in the conference hall of the ethnic and wellness hotel "Ungvarskyi", there will be a unique event in the art life of not only Transcarpathia but all Ukraine – meeting with the famous Danish artist of Ukrainian origin Sergei Sviatchenko. The artist works in the genres of painting, collage, video, installation, photography. He is considered to be one of the most influential and most famous collage artists in contemporary art.

The meeting will take place within the framework of the 3rd Open Student Contest in Painting "Silver Easel", which is held in Uzhhorod. Sergei Sviatchenko is a jury member of the contest.

The meeting will last till 8.00 p.m. We invite everybody interested, representatives of mass media.

Sergei Sviatchenko is an artist, architect, working in genres of collage, video, installation, photography. He was born in Kharkiv in 1952. In 1975, he graduated from Kharkiv Architectural and Construction Institute. In 1986, he wrote a PhD in Architecture at the Kyiv Engineering and Construction Institute "Means of Visual Information In Architecture". In the 1980s, he headed the Centre for Contemporary Art in Kyiv. Since 1990, he has been living and working in Denmark. Since 1990 he has participated in numerous collections and personal exhibitions in Denmark, Germany, Italy, Austria, France, the UK, Canada, and the USA. Member of the Union of Danish Artists and Graphic Artists (BKF). Laureate of the International Award for the Yellow Pencil Award 2007 (London).

Provocateur in the world of contemporary art. His collages, paintings, and photographs were exhibited in Denmark, Germany, Italy, Austria, France, England, Canada, and published in such cult journals as Dazed & Confused, AnOther, Kilimanjaro, Varoom, Elephant, Rojo, Viewpoint, Blueprint, DAMn, Euroman, LOFFICIEL, Stilletto, Arena, Neon, Free & Easy and many others.

Sviatchenko's art world has absorbed diverse trends in the field of culture over the past 35 years. In his work, one can find something both famous and incredible. He crosses the borders of traditional and contemporary visual images to combine pop culture with politics, personal memories with collective stories, architecture, science and logic of dreams. While other artists move within the established comfort zones, he experiments, challenges and cancels the rules. After his early work as a conceptual artist and creator of collages, he moved to abstract painting and performed large-scale monumental works for international firms and institutions around the world, including the Danish royal court and the Danish Parliament.

In 2002 – 2009, S. Sviatchenko founded Senko Studio www.senko.dk – a non-profit art gallery in Viborg, Denmark, where he as a curator was organizing the exhibitions of young talented artists and photographers for seven years (70 exhibitions). In 2009, Sviatchenko created a photo project "Close Up and Private" www.closeupandprivate.com – photo art project that creates a complex discourse between fashion and identity, offering new perspectives on the one hand, and on the other hand, it develops new trends in contemporary photography.

Sergei Sviatchenko stands out as an artist with a unique vision. This vision was formulated in a two-volume edition issued by the well-known publishing house Gestalten, Berlin, "Everything goes right and left if you want it" (2012), edited by the curator and critic Dr. Silka Kron (the first large collection of collages and paintings by Sviatchenko), and found its reflection in the last monograph “SERGEI Sviatchenko: COLLAGE”, edited by Rick Poynor, published in the publishing house Schlebruegge.editor (Vienna, 2014).

Evaluating the contribution of Serhii Sviatchenko to the collage art, Rick Poynor – a British specialist in the field of contemporary visual art, the founder of the legendary magazine "OKO", professor, art critic, the curator defined his place in the modern collage as follows: "Today, he (Sviatchenko) is one of the most influential and provocative innovators of the modern collage in the world."
